Special thanks to Françoise Pourcel for this

According to Paul
Mauriat, a French composer and conductor, Franck Pourcel's
associate and follower, who subsequently became much more famous
than his teacher, "Franck Pourcel became the founder of an entire
new movement in instrumental music. He devised and brought to the
life the idea of a French String Orchestra, which subsequently found
numerous followers. Large instrumental groups already existed in
America at that time (Percy Faith, Mantovani, Andre Kostelanetz
Orchestras). However, it was Pourcel who was able to find a unique
combination of string instruments, to uncover a certain "special
key" to the arrangement of well-known melodies, to bring to light
perspectives so unexpected that the original author himself might
not had thought of them." |
